MyLowes...Nice but maybe not...

Some of you may have a MyLowes account...pretty handy thing...(not talking about a Lowes Credit Card account...)

If you have a MyLowes account with a card or little keychain thingie with a barcode and an online account, you can view past purchases like your past orders on Amazon. Nice feature...

If you've used this it's really handy to know what you purchased, when and what you paid. It's handy to help you find your receipts for any warranty work, for example. You can contact Lowes with the transaction number and get a duplicate receipt, if you've lost the original... And other useful things..."knowledge is power"...

And here is the catch...

It apparently keys the orders to the item number of what/when you made the original purchase...okay, good approach...but if they no longer sell the item or the item number is now invalid, you cannot see the item on that order. It only tells you that you spent $xxx.xx. Apparently, it looks to the current database of item numbers.

It seems they should keep the record of the item you purchased rather than key off the current data base...

My example...I bought my Rikon 14" Deluxe BS at Lowes but actually through ATG, the outfit they purchased a long time ago. MyLowes shows I made the purchase and when but when I click on it to view the order, it tells me "item no longer sold" (paraphrased). All of a sudden a nice feature became not so nice...

Any of you have similar experiences...?

Nick

I have a my Lowes account and it is nice when you return stuff and have lost the receipt, they can verify it at the register. But I can see your dilemma, and that is not good.

I have used the feature of My Lowe's card. I love it. I was wondering because of you purchasing something from someone they bought out might be the reason that you can't find "all" info in the MyLowes database?
I do know that I have had to return a utilitech outdoor light and it was within the 2yr warranty and they replaced no question asked...And had to do it again about a year later. I have up and bought an LED from SAMs C. And it too failed in a yr. Sam's replaced it because they too have that database of your shopping history.

Yea, I bought paint when I finished my basement about 5 years ago. I wan't sure of the exact color. It showed the same as what you said. I needed some for some touchup. Luckily I found a sample card that I thought was close.

In January of this year I went to the local Lowe's to order a new refrigerator/freezer. I had looked at the one I wanted prior to going to the store. I wanted it shipped to the store, rather than to my house. My work schedule changes. I did not want it delivered, and I was not home. So, I placed the order. Off I went, waiting! It never showed up. So I called. No one would pickup the phone in the store. I had to E-mail CS to get someone to call me. I could not believe this! When someone finally did call me, it appeared that MY refrigerator/freezer did in fact come in. They sold it and another one. That is why they would not give me tracking information, when I ordered it. Needless to say, I canceled the order. I went to Best Buy, and bought the same unit, 300 dollars cheeper!

I think you can tell my warm and fuzzy feelings that I have for them now!

Arcola60, Lowe's will beat a competitor's price by 10%. All you have to do is, in some way, confirm the price, make and model. Now we can use our smart phone. Used to work in appliances at Lowe's.

I work part time in a relatively small hardware store, barcodes and item descriptions change all the time for the same item. If this is happens in a small store with hundreds of items think what happens in a store that sells hundreds of thousands of items. By the way, the store doesn't change the barcodes the manufacturer changes them. The will change them just because the packaging changes or wording on the package changes to satisfy some government mandate.
