Thumbs up Rockler Woodworking Store

Well folks,

I was in Chicago this past weekend and had the opportunity to stop by and check out the Rockler Woodworking store in Schaumburg, Illinois and wow, talk about kid in the candy store. Man, I tell ya, things look so different when you see them in person. Now you know I had to leave the store with some supplies. From now on everytime I go to Chicago, I'll make sure I stop there. It is really worth it! Happy Woodworking everybody!

Just leave the check book and credit cards at home. Sam the safe thing to do is take cash. It's like me when I go to grizzly I just take cash and a small car. That way you know you won't bring the store home. hahaha Well you got one on me I don't have a Rockler store or even a Wood crafter store real close by probably a good thing.

Yeah, I would have to agree with that leave your credit card at home and take small car thing. Very tempting to spend a lot when your in the store. I'm just glad I had my wife with me. I had my limits. If not I would of probably had the store with me. Heehee...

Chuck I know that hee hee. But the with is looking over my shoulder when I'm ordering on line or out of the catologe. When I go there it's by myself I get to actully see what I'm interested in and I get out of the house for awhile and she doesn't see nothing until I get it home or I sneak it into the shop. She never goes there and she doesn't know what I have. So you see it is planned that way.

HAVE to give props to the Arlington, Tx Rockler.
Went by there for the first time a week or so ago --
Went in just to take a look and pick up a keyhole bit --
Walked out with a dovetail jig (my first).
and lots of new information.

Beyond the neatness of all the goodies --
It was like a time warp -
- to be in a store where the personnel actually KNEW what they were selling -
what it was for - how it was used - and could actually discuss it with you

Hey Cowboy!

ALERT!

The 4' T-Track Kit is ON SALE again...
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=5209

It's a really good deal... assortment of 8 knobs and slider bolts + the T-Track.
Great for jigs...

Just noticed it... thought you'd like to know...

I'm also waiting for their Router Table AC switch to go on sale... saving about $10...

It's about the same walkin' into a Woodcraft store. One of the great stores...Constantines..I heard closed up in New York. Fortunately, I've got one about 20 minutes away. That place just taunts your appetite. I heard a rumor if you go in covered head to toe with sawdust, you either get some kind of discount, or get thrown out. Don't know which.

THANKS JOE -
I'm on 10 hour days so they will be closed by the time I get off tonite --
BUT -- I have a meeting Thursday right down the road from their store :-)

And DITTO on the Woodcraft -- they are the ones who sold me a base for my Ryobi that held PC bushings after Sears and both of the borgs looked at me like I was crazy.

I am TRULY blessed to live halfway between a Woodcraft and a Rockler :-)
