| Registered User Forum Fanatic | These are 5 photo's of a mortise jig that I made. I think that it is a work of art! It will make a 1/4 inch mortise. This is an example of an idea..... Delete The Trash Can, it only has items about how to set up routers for computers. Make a foirum called "How To" I have seen a a lot of woodworkers questions on how to do some thing. Our members could tell us (text and Photo's) on how they did some thing. I am not talking on how to make a dresser, but how to make dovetails on there jig, how they made a jig for making tenons. ect.

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | In my first post I showed you the jig. Now I will go thru the steps 1. Select a 3/4 inch flat bottomed bit. Thia is the bit you are going to use to make the pattern for cutting the slot in a 1/4 piece of phonolic board. 2. Install the bit in the router table....Adjust the bit to be 3/8th inch high. That's so you will just cut through the board. 3. Turn on router.....Holding the board tightly against the fence...Slowly drop the board onto the bit. It will start cutting through.....when it is through make your cut as shown. Turn off router, and remove board. You now have a fixture (jig..what ever) for making slot in the in the mortise jig. 4. Attach the pattern to the board you select for making the jig (mortise). 5. Get a 3/4 OD bushing and install in plunge router. 6. Using a 1/2 inch flate bottom bit, make you cut thru the board and as long as you want. Remember that when you are cutting thru the board make allowances for the plunge rout......don't cut into your table.
