Router is still my name is on a distinguished road

Default Most hated power tool in the shop.

All right so I don’t have a table saw, planer, jointer, miter or band saw which limits my most disliked tool. But I’m 99.999 % sure even if I had all them tools, my vote wouldn’t change.
What I have is few routers, a Jigsaw and a circular saw.
Everything I have ever built has been with a router. Rough cuts with the saws.
But I have to get this off of my chest. I HATE Jigsaws. It has to be the most unpredictable tool.
Sorry folks. wife is tired of me bitching about jigsaw and left in the middle of my rant.

Although I do agree with ya 'bout their "unpredictability". They do still have there uses though.

Sounds like you need to get a good one

Many,Many jig saws on the market now days some good and some are junk, but a good one will do what you ask of it and do it well with the right blade in place.
Some times you can't take the stock to the floor machine and that's when a good jig saw comes in handy.

The blade is the key and a good jig saw, not one that cost 30.oo bucks but one that will run you over a 100,oo the norm..

BJ makes a valid point. My Bosch jigsaw compares to my Black & Decker jigsaw like a softgrip gel pen compares to a quill pen. One is comfortable in your hand and glides smoothly and consistantly, the other is about what you would expect for something plucked from a birds butt.

I use a Hitachi jigsaw I got a few years ago before they radicaly changed the look of there tools. Its not a high dollar tool but its not a walmart special either. I use the best quality blades I can find for the job at hand and get great results.

As far as "most hated" tool. My one and only drill press is an 8" HF model I purchased about 10 years ago for $30. I allways forget about it when saving for my next tool purchase. But the darn thing still works.

I have a Rockwell jigsaw that was passed down from my Step-dad.. My son was able to find a bunch of blades for it, otherwise, I would have to replace it.. For making straight cuts, I prefer it over my table saw and skill saws.. I clamp a straightedge to the workpiece and cut..

My least favorite tool is my table saw.. An older Craftsman that has a lousy angle gauge, and fence system.. I can never get a decent cut with it..
