Default Time Change - Computer

Well since we made the time change this weekend, the PC didn't make the change ( neither of them in the house). When I go in to make the change, I can make it change but when the computer is restarted it goes back to regular daylight savings time. I have tried several things including the auto sync with the government clock that is defaulted ( doesn't work...imagine that) and also un checking the automatic daylight savings time box. Nothing I have tried seems to work. Anybody have a fix for this. Drives my wife nuts when she uses the computer.

Corey, you should be able to make the change to the time, and also uncheck the option call "Automatically adjust for daylight saving time". I think that should work, my office had to install a software path. I have not found one for my home computer.

Corey

The Clock is a BIOS function, reboot then hit the del.or F2 key then hit the F1 key (help key) then change the time and look for a item in the BIOS (uncheck update /daylight savings time)

Bob, I rebooted the computer, made the change and it works fine. Restarted it and it retains the change. However, if I log off which is what we normally do and when it logs back in, the change doesn't hold. The auto daylight savings time is unchecked, the syn with the internet is uncheck. There is no help feature on this, the question mark doesn't work.

Hmmm since then, it changed all by itself to the correct time. Oh well, works!

Surprising, I didn't have to go into BIOS, I just clicked on the time in the lower right hand corner and unchecked the auto daylight savings time option. I just rebooted and it kept the time. I love computers nothing works the same for everyone.

Rolf, mine would keep it to when I rebooted and then restarted again. However, we don't often shut the computer all the way down like that. We usually just log off and then log on. When we did that, it would revert back to the previous time. I was just working on the computer and noticed it had the correct time on it. Some how it did it itself then. Oh well... it's working!

Hi Corey

That's al that counts

Windows has the power to play with some of the BIOS setting but not change any of the items you may have check as a default BUT if you are using a small network the setting for each user may be set the way that user want's them but you can logn on as the Admin. and use the gpedit.msc command and change any thing on the machine you want it to be like time setting for all user.
But think like MS off is on and on is off (enable to dsiable)

NOTE**** Not all PC's running windows have this command, do a search for *.msc if you have it Win. should list it,then just click on it.
If NOT just use the Admin.Tools icon in the Control Panel

All the msc files are hot commands for the Admin.you can click on any of them to see what they can do.
