Vapochilled, One of the biggest surprises I have had in recent years is the quality of the air tools from Harbor Freight. They offer a complete range from framing nailers used for rough construction to finish nailers used for building furniture, to brad and pin nailers used for attatching trim and mouldings. My advice is to use the smallest fastener that will do the job. For trim you can use a pin nailer which drives headless pins of 23 gauge wire. The holes are so small you often do not need any filler to hide them. If the trim is heavier then go to a 18 gauge brad which has a small head and is a thicker wire. A large crown moulding might require a 16 gauge finish nail to support the weight. The bigger the hole, the more filling. Did I mention that the Harbor Freight air tools are most often way less money than other brands? www.harborfreight.com

I recently purchased a compressor & a couple nailers for some DIY projects around the house. Didn't want to spend too much money & didn't need anything to build a house. I settled on the DeWalt D55141FNBN.
http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/to...roductID=15658
I paid 259.00 at Lowe's. It included the brad nailer (18ga) & finish nailer (16ga). This should provide me the tools to get through most of my projects (shelving, molding, etc.). Just about all brands have some type of 2 or 3 nailer set for under $300.00. I settled on the DeWalt because it is easier to store than most of the 'pancake' compressors.

I also purchased an airtool kit from Grizzley for 25.95 (included tire inflator, glow gun, cleaning gun & spray gun).

It's a cheap package, but I was able to stain lattice work around my deck in a few hours rather than days with a brush.

Good luck in your decision.

Thanks guys, after looking at all the various kits, I just placed an order for the PC 3 gun combo.
Looks like the best bang for my hard earned buck, and seems to be reviewed very well.

Hi CM

Is this one you got

http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/to...roductID=15658

http://www.amazon.com/D55141FNBN-Hea...9964083&sr=1-1

So other members can see what you got at a great price, now if there was around paying Tax on items you pickup...sometimes it's better to buy them on line and pay the lower shipping charges sometimes
Buy the way Amazon sends out free 25.00 gift cards all the time or sometimes Amazon will have free shipping on some items..

But you got it at a good price I'm a cheap SOB so I always look at the best way to buy the tools I need...

Bob,

That was the DeWalt I bought. I actually found it a few dollars cheaper at Grizzley. Placed the order & they were back ordered for at least 6 weeks. I called Grizzley & canceled the nailer & just kept the took kit.

So far I've been very happy with the compressor, nailer & other accessories.

Vapochilled.....good deal on the nailer. I think you'll be happy with that & get good use out of it. It's hard to beat the combo deals. If you bought the compressor & nailers individually you'd end up paying a little more.

Especially given the amount of use it will get, at this stage I don't need or have the room/money for a "top of the line" rig, as with most of my tools,
But it should get me going in the right direction

I have had the PC for about 3 years now and have used the heck out of it in my remodelling. Works great and no issues.

I'm currently working on Wall Framing and Crown molding in my front entrance, stair way, and upstairs hall way. I use both the 18ga and 16ga nail gun. As Mike pointed out, depending on the size of the molding will determine which nailer to use. I use the heck out of my PC guns as well, and they work great. I've had them for 2 years with no problems.
You got a good price for yours, Vapochilled.
