Default Paging BJ..... Paging Mr. BJ

Hey Bob,

I was thinking about my spider thread and remembed something we had a little fun with about a year or so ago and wanted to see what your results were.

If I remember correctly (something that gets harder for me lately) we found an item called a "Hedge Apple" and unless I am mistaking, it was good for keeping spiders away. I think you got some from a visit to your daughter in South GA and was going to give them a try. Did you ever get around to doing that? If so what were the results?

Appreciate any info you can pass along buddy.

Hi Bob

They worked out great I have some more coming from Ken this year

They did get hard as a rock last year and I had them all over the shop and the house..I'm going to try a freeze some this year and see if they come out of it ...

They are funny they don't smell but the spiders don't like them
No webs in the windows like I had the year b/4 and no spiders in the shop.

Talk about spiders I got a big Black one last night with a red hour glass about the size of a small mouse in the back room of the shop and the Hedge Apple have been dryed up for about 120 days now...it's time for some more I think...man do I hate spiders

I thought I remembered it correctly about the spider repellent properties in hedge apples. I need to find me a source for some of those real bad. I can't stand the cob webs and risk out there, it makes my skin crawl. When do they come in season?

That Black wider sounds terrifying and better at your place than mine. One that large would have me reaching for Mr. Smith and Wesson.

HI Bob

You may want to drop a PM to Ken
http://www.routerforums.com/members/hamlin-6507.html

I'm sure he will ship some to you also , I'm not to sure about the season but I did chat with Ken about 2 weeks ago about it..

The Black wider is just a spot on the floor now and I hope I don't find any more of her kids running around in the shop, I now take great care when I pull wood out of the back room...once I saw her I had to look for the TP roll on the router table...

Thanks Bob, I'll give Ken a shout and see if I can hook up on some.

I have got to the point of wearning gloves when messing with the wood pile or reaching in shelving for tools. All those woods out there and they want to live in my little shop

Just gotta put in my 2 cents.

IF someone got bit by a spider and it took them to the ground,,,,,, My question is what the heck is he going to do with you then,,,, can't drag you back to his nest ,,,, i don't think those critters are very wise. Just sneaky! Yes sir.

Like a dog chasing a car,,, whats he do with it, if he catches it,,,, ??? he can't drive.

Not to make light of a bad situation, but I'm with Bob, he can use Smith and Wesson, I choose hand grenades,,,,, Ok, so I'm a poor shot.

You do take care in your neck of the woods, and stay away from the "widow makers", they sound mean.

John,,, I just had to say it, Iwas thinking it.

Hi John,

I think BJ's Black Wider was big enough to drag him back to the nest or at least try

Snakes I don't mind because you can usually see them. A dad gum spider just hides and waits.

Hand grenades huh? Now that's a thought

That is why I use hand grenades, some of those Black wider, carry a crew of 5, fully armed to the teeth.

Some of them little devils can get quite big I am sure. I seen a cockroach in St Lucia in the British West Indies, biggest one I ever seen (on the jetty) just a waiting for a stumbling drunk sailor to overpower and drag off.

Do take care,,,, and carry a grenade.

Hi boys,

My my my....all this fuss over a little arachnid....don't you know they are more scared of you than you are of them....imagine their fright.!! Now if you're allergic to them, I can see why you don't want to handle them or if they are black widows, well, I agree...they don't belong in the human element....but remember, most spiders are totally harmless and one of their benefits is to reduce the fly, mosquito, no-seeums...etc.

They do have a purpose, though they shouldn't be in the shop or house with us.

Well, guys, I hope you find your solution for dealing with the creepy crawleys.....I have mine....I just put them outside, but I'm also not allergic and I'd rather save even a spider's life than kill it. I feel life at all levels is precious.

Ed......:-)
