Default An area to store downloadable info

I would like to suggest a subforum created to permantly store useful information like the template guide bushing charts and router speed/bit diameter chart that members could download their own copy from or print a hard copy from. This would eliminate the need to "hunt" the thread where the info or chart was posted previously. I think this would be especially useful for the newbe.

Your suggesting that If someone has some helpful information they post it in a common location. Let's check with Mark.

As I see it, this could be a sort of a library of community information. Maybe we could use the email tips area and change the name to "the library" of information.

Let me know if I'm understanding this right.

You want to create a subforum of previous threads which proved to be very useful to everyone?

If so, thats an excellent idea!

It sounded like maybe PopPop (not trying to put words in your mouth) was suggesting posting some of the information cointained in the threads as opposed to the thread itself - things such as links, charts, etc - to make them easier to find without having to preruse the whole thread. I like that idea - but it may have to be indexed or something to help find things?

If that is what he ment, it could be fairly difficult because one would have to view every thread and every page, then extract useful information.

Seems like alot of threads would have to be gone through either way - is there some way I can help out? I think he had a good idea that could be a real resource for everyone. The other problem would be deciding what info should be included and that's a personal judgement call. It'd be educational for me just to work on it anyhow, and lord knows I need to be educated ;-) !!

Yes, it would be a lot of work, but, I agree with you it is an excellent suggestion.

OK, if there's value in it, maybe some type of commitee of volunteers could divy up threads and wade through - I don't know, but I'll help if it's of value. Let me know.

Del,
Wasn't sure if you had the manual, so I looked up the manual for the 690lrvs at PorterCable Tools (they have manuals on line in pdf format - http://portercable.cpoworkshop.com/s...om-690lrvs.pdf)
- all it tells you is that speed range is from 10,000 to 27,000 rpm - I don't believe you can assume that it's in 1/4 range steps - but obviously setting 1 should be 10,000 - oh well, not much help there. Their specs. section doesn't tell you anything more.
