Mike,
Would it make it any easier to moderate if all submissions were first presented to the moderator(s) for screening and then posted by the moderator(s)? Maybe using some kind of submissions form. In this way you could have the submissions placed in the correct location for make, model, etc. making it easier to search.

The new section will be broken down by brand name and entries will be made by model number. There will be a sample entry to show members how to post data and this should make for easy reference. Some brands such as PC and Craftsman have a "series" of routers such as the PC 690 or 890 series which has model numbers for different packaging options: 690, 693, 695... etc. Since these are all the same router they will be grouped as a family with all numbers listed. Different models such as the PC 7518 will be listed separate. Since a 690 base will work on an 890 an interchange note will be posted. At times different brands will interchange as well. Once this list is up and running it will be the most comprehensive database available.

Wow sounds awesome Mike, I'm really excited.

Do we want to write up a list of rules for the section considering we want to keep it clean and basically an informational database.

I posted a sticky in the forum with some guidelines. Moderators will be able to edit any threads to keep them uniform.

This is a great idea. What would you think about expanding it to include other woodworking equipment. Lots of older equipment gets "recycled" to new owners after the manual/parts list is long gone.

My goal is to first get the router info up and organised. Next I want to deal with mounting plates, router tables, dovetail jigs and other accessories. Once the router subject is completed then other items could be included. One step at a time.

Mike san

I think, if this is done, it is very usufull for a beginner like as I.
For example, a size of a template-guide between PorterCable-type and OakPark-type is not the same.
If this kind of chart about a size of base plate, it is helpfull for me at this time.
A router | PC |---
B router | OP |---

Because it is hard for me to find explanation concerning to it.
Also, asking to manufacturer by email is sometimes not acceptable from outside of America.
It is some kind of hesitation for me to post of this kind.

Thank you for your ideas.

Right you are Benny. Looking up the opening size for a routers base plate is very tough to do. This database will aid all members in many ways. It will be a long process adding and editing the information but like the old saying: Rome wasn't built in a day.
