First and foremost welcome to the forums. We are always glad to have new members. I want to mention that words have meaning. For example the word Introduction means tells us about yourself so we can get to know you. It does not mean post your question here and 6 other places on the forums. Staff checks to be sure every single question is answered. We have broken the forums down to specific topics to aid you in finding the right information. Questions about saws belong under general woodworking, not under routing. Our turning experts many not even read the scroll sawing section. For best results post under the right topic. Finally my biggest pet peeve: fill out your profile and tell us the State or Provence and Country you live in! This is so we can suggest the best places to buy, go for help or meet others in your area. No salesman will call. Most of my life I lived within 4 miles of one of the worlds best specialists in identifying woods and had no idea. How I wish I could of spoken with him. We are here to help you get more out of your woodworking experience. Please take the time to share your projects, mistakes, and solutions with us. By sharing we all come out ahead.

When posting a technical question, mention the name and model of the tool/router and include a photo of the area on the tool or the part in question so that the "experts" and the "novices" can all understand the issue. When asking for help locating a part, a photo of the tool as well as the make and model, is invaluable. For example, Is the "sub base" the actual base or a second plate attached to the stock base. My routers have phenolic or plastic "bases" which are attached to the routers main lower housing, either fixed or plunge. A question was recently raised "Can I use the router without the sub base? Do you want to "free hand" the router like a Dremel tool? I certainly wouldn't do that. So when safety is a possible issue, please be very clear in asking your question, so the responses don't lead you down a path of no return. Thanks, bill
