Welcome Philip,

Are there any changes to how the personal data on this forum are going to be handled? There is a lot of email addresses registered on this forum, I would hate to start getting unsolicited emails.

The forum has been a safe and enjoyable place for the past 10 years, hopefully we can keep it that way for another 10.

Welcome aboard,

Doug

Hey Doug,

We do not sell anyone's personal info. Canada, where our main office is, has some of the strictest anti spam laws in existence.

This is my hope as well. We do not have any intentions to uproot or change the vibe or principles the community was built on. Continuity is paramount for us.

I have to wonder what is in it for VerticalScope? It's not like you are going to get rich off of us woodworkers. And as far as bumps in the road and keeping the lights on, I haven't seen any problems arise since I have been a member.

This is making me very nervous.

I could care less about cross pollination with cars and motor cycles. The whole reason I am here is to interact with wood workers. And we have a great bunch now.

Well said Herb.

To be fair to the owners, they're not a charitable organization. They need to show a PROFIT... if they don't the Forum is toast.
So as long as my email info isn't being sold, I'm quite happy with the commercials as they are now.
Everywhere I look there's businesses and organizations closing their doors; I do what I can to keep the tool guys in business!

Welcome --- I think!!

We can hope that it will be a positive move, but VerticalScope owning over 300 forums sites might get a little hairy and hopefully we wont get lost in the crowd.

A couple other forums in other fields that I belong to have been absorbed by VerticalScope and one in particular has been far from seamless though it has gotten a little better lately after 2-3 years. As far as the pop up and commercials, there is some very good ad blocking software that you can use at least with Firefox.

What site is it? The last 2 years we have drastically changed how we deal with new sites, and all our sites.
