Default Updated Smartphone Feedback Thread

We're pleased to announce that we have launched a new smartphone view on the site. This version has been designed to have a cleaner look, to fit really nicely into mobile (iPhone, Android) browsers, and unlike most normal web based skins will also include features that are normally reserved for desktop or phone applications. We built this as we realize you all spend more time today on your phones on the forum than you did 2 years ago, and we want to get the mobile view to a place where you can do everything (and more!) that you can do on desktop.

A few notes as I know many of you may have questions:
* This does not replace the free or paid in-apps that you have, such as any mobile apps. This is web-only.
* This new skin will only show when you access the site from a modern (Android 4+, iPhone) phone. It will not show for older phones or for tablets, blackberries or windows phones.
* Please give us some time as we work through bugs. Give it a try, give us feedback in our mobile thread url, and give it a chance. Every change needs time to get used to!

If you visit the site from your mobile phone, you'll get the new view automatically. You can login, post, reply, upload photos, view your private messages and more. You can also use the legacy mobile view by choosing the top left menu and Exit Enhanced Mobile Mode.

The feedback thread for any bugs, etc, please post below.

**Please let use know the device, software version, and browser being used if reporting any issues.

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to post a guide on exiting the mobile view for those who prefer the normal desktop view.

To exit the mobile view, you will need to tap on the three horizontal lines located in the top left corner of the screen.

Once tapped on, a slide out menu will appear with the option to "Exit enhanced Mobile View". After that it's just a matter of tapping on it and voila! Normal desktop view.

I hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to post them here.

I didn't like it. I thought I was going to be offline for 2 weeks until I get home from camp. Sorry but it wasn't better for me.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Not for everyone, that's why the ejection option is there. If you clear your cache on your browser it will come back so you will need to opt our again.

I try not to use my iPhone for browsing, although I understand many do. (cannot read the tiny print).

May give it a try on the iPad. Will that work as well?

This view is specific to phones since it makes the tiny type easier to read. On the iPad it should not be so much an issue and the site will look as it did before.

I use a COBY tablet and expect the view to be normal. I connected but the website software interpreted Android os as a phone. So I exited the phone view. I'm hoping I don't have to exit every time. That would be a show stopper.

You will every time you clear cache.otherwise you're good to go ,does come up once in a while to ask you if you like to go back and try it.
Some Nice features but it's a learning experience takes time to learn for us mentally challenged people but like everything will survive

Looking forward to your participation.
Filling out your profile to include (first name, tools and short bio is strictly (optional )but does help members to better relate to each other.
Thank You John

I first realized there was a new look a couple of days ago. It is terribly slow, and now it won't respond at all. I can't click on the three bars to opt out. I got the screen to come up once, but it wouldn't let me make any selection. The just makes a sound like it has been punched.

I can't opt out if I wanted to.

Needless to say, this is a change I am not happy with.

Samsung S3

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
