Default For Corey

Just some snapshots of a jig to make wheels or to say put the slots in the wheels so they look like Hvy. equiipment tires...

I should note the block needs to start out square, (whilgig) in this case and then make it round..but for the wheesl it needs to be round from the get go..and a bit over size, the key to get it right, is to use a indexing pin in the jig.

Bj, thanks for that. That looks great and like you said in your email can be done on the tablesaw as well. More jigs to make thanks again for taking the time to do that.

You'er Welcome Corey

Hope it helps,,, I'm sure I said this but just in case I forgot , make the wheels in two parts and glue them as one wheel, that will give you the look and the offset on the tires treads.. ) one for the left side and one for the right side of the same tire..
If I recall the inside of the tire was done with a big round over bit in the drill press..to get the look of the real tire look...

It's obvious that like me Bj., you couldn't manage without the radial arm saw. That's another very clever jig of yours, I think it's time now to get together with a ghost writer and produce a book on you're huge collection of jigs.

Hi Harry
Thanks,, I have had the RAS for a long time I like it over the table saw when it come to taking off a small cut off some stock I like to use the RAS it's the safe way.

I was just trying to think how long I have it ,, it's going on 41 years and many table top replacements It took me a long time to fix that error by adding a stop block to the column ,so now the blade can only cut 1/16" max into the top.. hahahahahahaha

The jig I posted for Corey is a old one almost 26 years old, I think maybe I should some day, I have boxes full of them and as you know I love jigs and any one can do it one time but to do it over and over it takes a jig or a template..
at last count I was up to 367 total...and I add to it everyday.. LOL LOL

I just made a new one for the CMT stuff last night , one of the templates was bit hard to setup but not now.. LOL

Hi Corey

"How long before we get to see" I did post the new jig or to say the rework of one of the CMT templates , the one I got was to small to fit the jig so I had to rework it so it would work in the standard frame holder,,,

The 3D posting will show the new template, it's looks like MDF stock that has been added to the base unit template, and it has, very tricky to add stock to the template because it needs to be right on the button with in .001 ,,,the 1st one I tried become fire wood and I had to send off for one more and start over, 30.oo dollar error on the 1st. one... I'm not sure why they didn't make them the same size BUT they didn't..but now it works just like it should..

Forget the BOOK Bj., make it BOOKSSSSSSS!

I have the same radial arm saw as you and have made at least three new tables for it and am ready for another one. I think that I have had mine for about 30+ years.
