Default Busy time!

Well been a bit busy of late so haven't got around to posting anything recently. I also had a break in on my shop but luckily they just reached through the window and removed my Sliding compound mitre saw which was a cheap one. Beefed up the security and am back on track now after replacing the saw with the big De Walt one. Anyway here are a couple of pics of what I have been up to. As you will see the drawer unit is still in progress and will be part of a computer desk for our spare room. As for the saw I am looking forward to using it next year on some more gazebo jobs where it will earn it's keep.

Hello Mailee,
Sorry to hear about your break-in. There is not much on this earth lower than a thief. I'm glad to see you did good on the replacement. I don't have any windows in my "shop" and I keep all doors bolted shut with a motion detector. Hopefully that is enough, but you know the old saying... Locks are to keep the honest man out. If a thief wants in he will get in.

Hey Mailee good to see you back. Sorry to hear about those thieves. Hope they stay way, that is a nice looking new saw there. Looks like the project is going well, lots of DT's there! Mailee, what bandsaw is that.. I mean who makes it. Looks nearly identical to my 12 inch craftsman I bought about a month ago or so.

Hi Callaghan, Thanks for the nice words guys. I have beefed up the security and moved my motion censor as it didn't pick up the rear window, now it does. As for my bandsaw it is one made by Draper. Draper here are classed as budget tools but I have to admit this bandsaw is great. Cast table good locking fence and very accurate. It will cut up to 12" which is enough for my needs although there are times when I could do with just a small benchtop model for curved work. Still it serves me well and only cost me £260! :-)

Mailee, I am nearly convinced that the bandsaw is the same saw sold by Craftsman that I bought. I was told it is made by the parent company of Rikon for Sears. It shares many of the same parts and identical part numbers that are on the Rikon saws. Interesting!

Wow Corey! I see what you mean, it is a dead ringer for mine isn't it? I should guess that it is made by one manufacturer and badged by many as is normally the case. Oh is yours twin speed by the way? I can change to another speed by slackening the belt drive and slipping pulleys inside the case. Have to admit I am very happy with it. Had it about three years now.

Yup, 2 speed Mailee. You can see the red handle for tensioning the belt. Cool!
