| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Well those of you that read my thread from yesterday no I made some good firewood Today I redeemed myself a bit. This is to be a bracelet box for my mother-in-law. Did the dovetails on the Gifkins jig. Maple stock with a paduak panel. This is as far as I got today. Since I have to leave on Tuesday for a business trip no progress will be made until next weekend. I will finish the panel now so there is no dust getting onto the maple. Paduak is kind of nasty that way. Anyway, feeling good about this one and a much better day in the shop! Thanks for looking, Corey

| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Hi Bj, it is the box with the panel in it that has not been separated yet. I will finish the panel first and then glue it up and cut it into and finish it. Corey

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Those joints look bloody good Corey, but, (there I go again) for a jewellery box, in my usual humble opinion, thinner stock would give a more dainty look. I know Corey that, like me, you welcome CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | I'm surprised that it's 3/8", from the shots it looks at least 1/2". When you're boss asks what you would like for Christmas, tell him a planer, I know that you're stuck for space (aren't we all?) but I remember seeing a project in a magazine a few years ago where a planer was on one side of a panel and some other machine (I've forgotten what) on the other. The assembly could be rotated within the cabinet so two machines only had the footprint of one.

| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Hi Harry that is the deception of the macro lens. It actually looks ok with the 3/8. A smaller dovetail would help as well. Sounds like the flip top cabinet that Bob Noles built. I have a place carved out for a planer and will get one this next year some time. A jointer is the tough one space wise for me. Corey

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Throw away that macro lens Corey, it does not do justice to you're beautiful projects. "A jointer is the tough one space wise for me." I can't remember if you have a jointer, but if you haven't, in my humble opinion, one is more important than a planer. You can do most things on a jointer but only reduce the thickness with a planer, obviously both is the ideal situation
