Default For Charles M.

Some time back Charles M. ask me why I didn't make a nice box for the bits & tools for the CNC machine I have ( CarveWright Woodworking System) I had one that would fit the bill but I also want a nice one..

SO I started to look around for some stock,,,the price for stock blew me away I knew what I wanted but didn't want to put out that much for just a box .

So I found the one below on line ,made out of Ven.Rosewood it's not the best but it looks good and should be just fine for the 450.00 dollars worth of bits, tools, and parts for the CNC machine..

This one was 50.oo bucks what got my eye on the rosewood box was I made one like it, but 4 times bigger for the Boss along time ago for her sewing stuff, it has a handle over the top side to move it around plus the boss still has it by her chair in the front room, it's made out of 1/4" and 1/2" thick Oak...with 4 short legs.. , I was trying to recall how old it is, I think about 25 to 30 years old .......

I did make one with the machine but it was to small to hold all the parts, see the last snapshot..

Nice find!! Can't beat that for $50. I'm envious of all the bits and collets you have for the CW.

For $50.00 Bj, there just isn't any incentive to make one but having said that, we would no longer have a hobby if we take that approach all the time. I have remarked on that magnificent carved box before, it's just beautiful.

Thanks Charles and Harry

I wanted to make one from scratch but I don't know how they can do it so cheap ? by the time the end user ( me) picks it up I sure as many as 8 companies have added a bit more to it ,that said the company that made it sold it for 20.oo bucks or less..and I'm almost sure it was made in China (over the pond) I looked at the box it came in and I'm almost sure it cost almost the same as the item in it...it's got to come along way without getting damage...

All that said the Rosewood would have been just penney's for them...I just don't get it.
How come they can do it and we in the states can't...we have all the people that don't have jobs and come over the boarder that want and need jobs...I'm sure they all don't want to pick fruit.....

Back to the Rosewood box, they cut alot of corners making it with the plastic hinges and some other things but for 50.oo bucks it's hard to beat and I wanted to end up with a nice clean box and that was my end goal... sometimes it's just smarter to buy it than make it,, it's like buying tools I would love to make all my power tools but I can't....I always amazed when I see a battery power drill and all the high end parts that are in it...and sometines you can buy one for 25.oo bucks..with 2 others snap in tools to go with it...and it's all in a nice plastic case...

I got 3 sets from the web site below but they are the low end type (18volt) but they do work,(jigsaw, sander, drill, extra battery, charger, plastic storage case)

He's sold out now but has them from time to time, he has some great deals most of the time.
