| Registered User Dedicated Member | I followed bj's lead and slammed together a sled today. I like the way it glides. Since I couldn't find the proper size steel rod, I used 7/16 (11 mm) all thread. Coupled with the knobs for the edge guide it seems to work okay. (picture 2) As you can see I stopped my slot 2" (50 odd mm) that should work fine once I get the jig tray built. I didn't measure the bit below the baseplate but I suspect it is close to 20 mm in the plunge position. (picture 3) ![]() ![]() ![]() From playing with it a few minutes I see it is honestly so much easier than free hand routing. The lack of centrifugal force was immediately noticeable. The only drawback I noticed was the limited area one could work even with the 3 foot all thread. But that appears to be a decent trade off. Now all I need is more time to play with it. ![]()

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | What a beautiful job you've made Gary, Tom will be very pleased that another member has tried the skis. As Mike said, Tom is around, I spoke to him just before Christmas and he has a lot of commitments on at the moment but will be back before long. His main frustration is trying to master the art of video editing in order to produce his long awaited DVD teaching his methods of plunge routing. Gary, the more you use the ski mounted router, the more operations you will find for it, do let us see the occasional photo-shoot.

| Registered User Forum King | Hi all as Harry and Mike said I have a few frustrating days getting over a few problems I have been having computer problems have also added to the long list and I have changed to a laptop to see if I can continue then I will restore the the PC. It is great to see some others enjoying the satisfaction with the use of the template guides and Ski Mode. keep up the good work. I have also been working on my dining room chairs and I hope in the next fortnight to post some pics of the construction. You may remember I posted a sketch of how I intended to add the arm rests to a couple of chairs and I asked for any suggestions as to how I could join the various parts. well I think I may have succeeded in dovetailing them together all procedures with the router. It is possibly the greatest challenge I have given myself using the router with the aid of the guides. Unable to post pics at the moment until I transfer them from the PC. Look out for pics soon Tom |
