The top of the engine is solid pine and the sides are 3/4 solid maple with 3/8th's x3/16th's pieces glued on at 3/8th intervals which make the treads. I had a little trouble with balancing the thing and with the front plow down half way, the thing tipped forward so I drilled some 7/16th holes in the bottom and inserted two of those weights that kids put in their pinewood derby cars. Here's some additional pics.

Thanks for the pics Gary. Someone said something about a pic and a thousand words. One picture is worth one question in this case. I couldn't figure how a child could push this toy with those tracks (unless in a sand box).
