| Registered User Jr. Member | orignally i was going to use this as a tool box i still am but now its more i started by drawing up some small plans which i was inspired after looking at granpaw rotting away tool box in the back of the barn at my granmaws farm i made it out of pine becuase at lowes it was cheaper but now i would have gotten oak or pressure treated lumber i cut with a hand saw and used nails which i rarely use at all after that was done i used 2x2 pieces of plywood and cut attached them to the bottem and used a small board on the bottem that attached to the sides of the planks and plywood then i used a drill to make a hole which i could throw a chain through and make it so no one except for me could get into the box then i painted it with house piant on the inside too its pretty much the best box i have ever had i made for under $20.00 but i still want to reinforce the top and add more hinges go to my piscata to look at most of the projects i have made http://picasaweb.google.com/home Last edited by ntreaster; 07-01-2008 at 11:22 AM. |

| Registered User Forum King | You seem to be well on your way, and one of the best teachers is experience. Each and every piece you build will be another move, in the never ending learning process. Woodworking is an art and your Grandfathers tool box an inspiration. Keep building! John

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | For a 14 year old with limited facilities the box sounds great, perhaps you could borrow a digital camera and post a photo. of it.
