I'm a newbie to this forum and a advanced beginner with woodworking. I imagine my question is common but I can't find it anywhere in for archives.

I just tried mounting my PC 690 router, using the 1001 base, in my table that uses a Rockler top. As soon as I turned it on it vibrated almost completely out of the base. I figure I'm doing something completely wrong since no one else seems to be mentioning this issue.

If it's already been discussed, please point me to the post.

First.... Welcome to Router Fourms.com

I would check to be sure your plate is centered with your chuck. From what you describe, it sounds like something is off center. Go back and re-check your mounting process and be sure your plate is seated properly in the table as well. This vibration is not a normal thing for sure. Quite possibly also is that they may have sent you the wrong plate for your particular router.

I'm sure others here will have some additional ideas for you as well.

Run the router in your table without a bit in it. If it runs smother, check your bit.

Thanks everyone. I tried your suggestions, but also your responses let me know there was no major step or setup aspect I was missing. I guess I had panicked a bit when I saw my router motor headed for the floor.
I checked the vibration as you mentioned and it wasn't bad at all. I was probably spinning the bit (a large raised panel bit) too fast, and slowing it down to minimum speed made everything liveable. I also cleaned off any remnants of lube on the motor body and inside the base surface, tightened the locking nut a bit, and viola - a working setup.
I just created a beautiful raised panel for wainscoting! I can tell this router table is going to be addictive.

I am glad you got everythng worked out and are happy with your set up now.

I am about 3/4 finished with my new table and plan on posting some pictures later today.

I'll do that as soon as I finish my "dust solution" addition.
After routing a raised panel out of MDF, I had quite the mess to clean up, even though I had a strong vacuum attached. I have worked out a containment structure which I'll build, attach, test, and then post.
