Default Ryobi - Router Combo Kit RE1803BK & Tool Dock
Report Post Report This Post!

So, I have had the Ryobi kit for a while and have been making do with a Craftsman router & table for about 5 years now. I have always meant to build a router table a la Norm but never found the time.

I recently purchased a Tool Dock (router table) and am now in a position of upgrading my undersized, underpowered Craftsman.

The burning question is:

Should I dedicate one of the three bases to the Tool Dock and make do with the remaining bases (D & plunge) for free hand routing?

Hello Don,Welcome! If it were me, I think i would. I have my 1/4 in. Craftsman 1 3/4 Hp router in my home built table, not done yet, I have my 2 hp Ryobi w/ 3 bases, in my Ryobi table saw . The table has a spot for a plate built into it. I am doing some routing on the new table top with the 1 3/4. hp unit, and i am finding that to be good for what i will be doing with it. I believe that the 2 hp unite will be used free hand more often. I hope that that gives you some help. I have seen the Ryobi on E-bay very reasonable. That would be an idea for you to. Good luck! I got the Ryobi when i found out that it and Sears were the same. (About 4 years ago)
