| Registered User Supreme Forum King | I have some 1/4" lucite ES acrylic, and was wondering if anyone has used this for an insert.. Being 1/4" it does have some give to it, but if I keep the insert size small, it may be OK to use.. I figure the router base would help stiffen it.. Any comments?

| Marine Engineer Forum King | In my humble opinion, too thin. The weight of the router, the force the bit puts in the work, you'll have a wavy or inconsistent depth of cut, if it doesn't crack. Of course, you can make a snazzy router compass, bit guards, and lots of other accessories with it.

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | 1/4" lucite is not a good idea for two reasons: flex which has been mentioned, plus lucite has a tendency to shatter. Don't think I would want to deal with a shattered insert & a snarling router dropping down anywhere near my legs. Lee |
