| Registered User Dedicated Member | How do you put the spline slot in a 45 Degree miter? I can do it with a table saw but would rather use a router table. BB

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi Bruce You can do it with a table saw but it can be tricky and not to safe. You can do it on the router table with a quick jig and it will come out clean and true. Use a slot cutter and the jig. see a snapshot of the jig below. To make the spines clean and true use a T & G set and remove the bearing from the center of the bit set and put in some small OD washers (5/16" ID and 3/8" OD) that add up to 1/4" thick spacer, or made one with some 1/4" thick plastic. Make a pass then take it to the table saw and cut off the spline strips. The spines will be about 3/4" wide and a true 1/4" thick. ![]() Note*** make a test cut b/4 you make the splines you may need to add a washer to the spacer because the carb tips hang down just a bit. Bruce, have a look see at the jigs below for a 45deg. spline You can use a slot cutter to do this job also. ![]() You can do one at a time or as a pair, the pair way is the best ,it will line up both parts at the same time for the spline. ![]() The 4th, snapshot is for a standard bit (1/4" or 3/8" the norm.) http://www.routerforums.com/jigs-fix...ghlight=spline For the LONG spline below (snapshots) Bj ![]()
