Hi Harry

I was going to suggest air cylinders ,they are quick but it takes a some more parts to set them up like a air control and a bit of hose and fitting ....
They can move slow or fast and with one knob (controller) with the cylinders one could make a hold down clamp device and one to lift the router up or down quick and easy.
But it takes more work than most want to put in a lift device for doweling holes.

Bob, is that an admission that Niki's set-up may have some merit after all? I think that you, like Joe have mellowed in the few months that I've been a member of this forum. I really look forward every day to check what's happening.

Hi Harry

"mellowed" Well yes and no,,, when I 1st saw Niki's setup I said. is this guy nuts or what ,,,but then I took a hard look at what is was doing and how he was going to do it..he came up with a way to do a task on the router table that is simple and cheap and it will work over and over ,some people are on a higher plane than I and I must be hit hard on the head to get it.. .....

But now I do and it's a great way to put in holes for dowels
