It's a 20 megabit download of a shareware Raised Panel Calculator. I haven't tried it but it might be just what you need. http://www.canadiancontent.net/tech/...nel_Doors.html It won't cost anything to try it out. Here is another free one but it needs Excel to work... http://www.cheyennesales.com/download/rpdcalc.htm and here is a free trial download for another one... http://www.softwareforwoodworkers.com/html/doors.html

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | Thanks George. So this post has been very helpfull to say the least. I didn't realize that the rails and styles are 2 7/16. I was going to go with 1 1/2 but guess not. I'll take a look at some of the shaker style cabs at the local home depot and see how they are done. Plan on making some MDF doors today as practice. Actually, Re-modeling the basement has spured all this and I realized I have to make some type of door to put over the breaker box Sounds like a good project for MDF doors to paint!Looking forward to posting a few pics of the router table as well. Looking pretty good. All I need now is drawer faces and a door and I'm set. BTW What is a standard overlay for face frame cabs? the face frames are 1 1/2" Thanks a ton everyone. God I love this board.....................and all my new tools ![]() Joe |

| Registered User Forum Geek | Hi Joe: you can practice on any material if it is the same thickness as the maple you will use. I would suggest pine or poplar. Oak-Park has a program to do exactly what you want. it is SPO140, and costs around 35. USD. In the meantime I'll try to give you some info. 1. determine the overall size the finished door must be counting any over laps on to the face frame if you use one. 2. determine the size of the stiles and rails, in your case you say you want them to be 1 1/2" wide. when you cope the rail ends most router bits and sets will use 3/8ths" in depth of cut. Both ends are coped so that means you must add 3/4" to the rail dimensions. The copes in the rails are made first, using a sled and back up board for reduce chip out. The stile bits are then installed into the router and both rails and stiles get machined. As an example if you wanted a door 12" wide and 18", and the width of the stiles and rails are to be 2" you would cut the following parts. 2 stiles 2" by 18 " long. 2 rails 2" wide. The length of the rails would be the width of the finished door ie 12" minus 4" for the with of the stiles plus 3/4" for the part of the cope one each end (3/8") The panels, raised or flat would be the same width as the rails ie 8 3/4" the length would be 18" minus 4 " for the width of the stiles, plus 3/4" for the bottom and top of the panel to fit into the slots of the top and bottom rails. The panel would be 8 3/4" wide X 14 3/4" long. Hope this helps. Woodnut65 |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi lablover Here's some snapshots, they will help, from the old cat. from sommerfeld tools. click on the snapshots to blow them up (hit the F11 key 1st) so you can read the details. You can also put them on your PC ,just view them and then right click on them and select copy image or save as then make a new folder on your desktop and paste them in, then you can print them out or just save them when you need to go back and check on a item or two. ![]() NOTE**** You don't need to buy the templates you can make your own quick and easy,,,, use some 1/4" to 1/2" thick MDF or hardboard take your compass and draw a BIG cir. on the 14" wide stock that's about 8" to 10" long, then take it to the band saw and cut it on the line, then light sand the edges, then take a magic marker and mark them for 10" to 12" panel doors. mark them part A and part B , you will need both parts to make the panels and the frame parts.Start your cir. about 4 1/2" down from the left and the right side of the top of the 14" wide board. Put in a band saw slot for the center mark,,,see snapshot below Bj ![]()
