Default 3+ hp router

Got the incra Friday and it still sits in the box. My youngest son came over with a project he needed help with for his older brothers Bachelor party..Yes..I'm paying for the darn wedding too.

Anyway..Watched the Incra video included and watched them fling wood thru that router like it was paper. By bosch 1617 2+ p aint gonna be able to do that I'm sure. I decided to upgrade the yet finished router table to add the Jess em Mstr Lift because Incra has a version in the video made bt Jessm and I was impressed. I digress

I'm debaiting if I want the PC 7518 or the new Milwakee 3.5 HP that is made for the mastr lift. Seems pretty slick with the outside the table speed control and on and off switch. Anyway

I'm looking for you fellas to give me some advice. Just in case I do have the reducer ring so my Bosch will fit but I'd really like the 3+ HP for raised panels etc. PLUS..I want to treat myself to a new router cause the wife just bought the dress and jewelry for the wedding of our oldest son...So..I get a treat too

Looking forward to the suggestions.

Have a great weekend all

Joe

I think your bosch would work fine in the set up with the incra jig but who am I to deny a fella a new router and you really want a 3 HP for the raised panels. I have heard very good things about the new Milwaukee router but the PC is a true tested work horse.

What area do you live in Joe? I would be happy to let you try out one of my 1617's against my PC 7518 with a piece of oak. The difference is not as much as you might think. If I were in the market I would have a tough time choosing between a Bosch 1619 (Top rated) and the Triton Bob posted about, the TRA001. Since the Triton is going for $214 + $10 for the guide bushing adaptor it is the low cost favorite. So you ask why did I buy a PC 7518 instead of one of the other brands? $120, any further questions?

Joe I call it the new Milwaukee... not really new I guess. It's the 5655 model I think. Adjustable from the top etc. How did I forget the Triton... now that is a cool router! Again, I still think the 2 1/4 HP Bosch would have plenty of power. I know I could do everything I do on my big 3 HP Dewalt with my 2 1/4 HP Dewalt.... no big bits like panel raisers and rail and stile bits but would do everything you can get done on the Incra jig.

Sterling Heights Michigan. So the extra 120.00 was worth it to you for the 7518? I'm not worried about paying the little extra. I mouted the 1617 in the lift..Looks like a palm router in that big ole lift. I am impressed with the lift build.
