I have never used a router before. I have a Skil Classic Type 1 plunge router.
It will fit into the make your own table from Oak Park. I want to make desplay cases for flea markets to start out with. What is the max lenght boards that I can route with this table ?

Easy on me please, I am a complete newbe.

John,

The only limit or maxium is in our imagination and creativity. For longer stock, an in feed and/or out feed table can be used to increase the capacity of any router table. Many jigs can also be devised to assist as well. Give us a little more detail on your requirements and you will get as much help as you can handle. How about some dimensions and idea of design?

Bob, I would say 18 x 24.
Do you think the Bench Dog bench top router table would be better than the Make your own table ?

I don't have the skills (yet) to build a table or fence, is there a member that makes tables and fences for sale.... reasonable ? Like 24 x 34 Table top & fence.
Thanks for replying.

John

Rockler has a great little table about that size complete with fence on clearance for $59 (the usual price of the fence alone).
If I hadn't already bought the materials and had my head set on building my own I would have bought that one. In fact -- I ALMOST DID anyway.

John, The first table I built was from a plan in ShopNotes #1. This table is easy to build. If you go with a table like this I suggest a Rousseau Mounting plate, the template to install it as well. This is easily built by a begining woodworker. The build your own table kit from Oak Park is another excellent choice. Again, easily built by a beginner. Give some thought about what types of jigs you will be using with the table. After being on the forums for over a year I listened to what Rick was saying and bought this table: http://us.oak-park.com/catalogue.htm...roduct=RW40002
I am very glad I did. This table is a real pleasure to use. Set up's are quick and easy. Everything Oak Park sells is designed to work together as a complete system with minimal set up and maximum routing enjoyment. I constantly check out products from other manufacturers and feel confident in saying the quality is unequaled and you get real value for your money. In addition to all this consider there are DVD's showing you how to use the table for a wide variety of projects and additional support in the form of books and this forum. There are also the E plans you can download and print out with all the measurements and complete directions to make many projects problem free. This is not saying anything bad against the many other fine products on the market. All I am saying is after checking out what all is available I am glad I went with the Oak Park system.
