| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | I spoke to Joe lyddon on skype some 50 minutes ago and when I told him I was about to go into my shed and make a lazy man's version of Bj's pusher he said that he would post a shot of his when I post one of mine, so here it is and I couldn't resist trying it out. The results from my FIRST attempt at using the Oak Park finger joint jig I think are bloody good, I can't wait to try it properly.

| Banned Supreme Forum King | Harry, Yes we had a nice chat until you had to go to "Lunch"... Yes, you want to me to take a picture of my Favorite "Pusher"... ![]() Picture this: (turn on your mental camera) An undedicated piece of 4x4x maybe 6"-8" long with a nice square end on it. That is my pusher... the best pusher I've used for the router table. ![]() I have 4 corners... 1 for 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and I guess I could use the 4th for a dovetail bit if I wanted. Tearout is controlled perfectly... It provides me a very nice, husky handle easily controlled... My left hand can very easily & safely hold the workpiece up against the end of it while I 'push' it through the cutter maybe 1" or so at the most... If it ever starts to get dog eared, all I have to do is cut an inch or so off the end and it's good for more Pushing... ![]() It works for me beautifully... ![]() I just don't see bothering with making a Special Deluxe "Pusher" for use with the Oak Park box joint jig... or, for the most part, any other cut on the router table. OK, I think I've described my Pusher without the use of a picture... Look at all the time I've saved! ![]() My cuts are 90* to the table... What more do I need... What does your jig do that my 4x4 doesn't do? I could have made my Pusher faster than it took me to type this POST! ![]() G'day mate... cul later in your evening... Nice talking to you, as usual... ![]() I'm hitting the sack... g-nite... |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi Guys I would say I made the "lazy man's version" I didn't want to make 3, one for each size of the Oak-Park box jigs,,, so I made one that could do all 3, 1/4",3/8" and the 1/2" ,,, lazzy I know plus I'm always thinking how I can keep my fingers out of the router bits way...it can nail you so quick if you slip or just forget one time to pull your hand back...When I saw Bob and Rick use the box jigs for the 1st.time I said I know Bob is a old pro.but why would he show how to do it without some type of safeguard I know then run a disclamer about guards and others items they don't use or have removed but this one jig can get you in a HEART BEAT...it's not just one time thing but you need to run the stock by the bit MANY times to get all the parts done...and it only takes one error to paint the stock red.. I tried to use the same guides lines as the router Mfg. , they know most will not do what they ask, " Unplug The Router b/4 changing bit" so they put in a safe guard by putting on a small guard around the power switch it maybe a bat switch or just a rocker type but they do it because they know what most user of the router will do ![]() The handle on the push block is about the same, I know most will not clamp the stock to the push block they will just hold on to it with one hand and use the handle to push it over the bit.....so in a way it only puts one hand by the bit so to speak and it's up high the norm, if the bit jams the user can just lift it up or just pull it back with the handle...easy..that can be hard with the standard push block, most will stop pushing and just lift the stock but this can be hairy.... now the stock is free so to speak but the bit is still inside the slot and stock can go anywhere it whats...once it off the guide slot... Have fun but work safe... ![]() http://www.routerforums.com/jigs-fix...ush-block.html Bj ![]()
