| Registered User Forum Geek | Does anyone have an opinion on the best table for mounting and use on a router table? Any luck with the newer Porter Cables? I think they are the 890 series. Thanks Steve Bolton |

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | Even though it's my only router, I like the 890.. I use the plunge base with the springs removed in the table.. PC had some quality issues a while back, but they were fixing them..

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | If it's for the table only, I think you should give serious thought to the TRITON TR001, not only does the collet rise above the table for easy cutter change but height adjustment is very simple. It also has an effective dust port and all the power that one could ever need. I'm led to believe that the US price is over a hundred dollars cheaper than the $388.00 Ozzie dollars that I paid, taking into account the exchange rate. As a plunge router I'm not impressed.

| Senior Moderator Supreme Forum King | The newest version of the 2-1/4 hp PC's are called the 860 series. Same motor as the 890 series with the "improved bases." I had one in my hands and didn't see much improvement. The sub bases are supposed to be re-designed and manufactured by a different vendor to eliminate the poor quality problems noted elsewhere on the forums. The lower portion of the dual position switch is still covered when using the plunge base. (Great design job PC!) If you are lucky enough to get one of the good units odds are you will like it. I would still look hard at other brands before purchasing one of these routers.
