Default Newbie question re: plunge router

Hi guys - I finally got my Craftsman router plate and figured out how to mount my Craftsman plunge router to the plate. Question - does it matter where in the router plate the router is attached as long as the collet is in the exact center of the hole in the plate? Not sure if this is clear. Also, Am I supposed to keep the clear plastic bottom plate that came with the router on the router when it is attached to the table? I took it off. Just checking. Chris

No. The bit should be centered on the plate. If you are mounting to a table you do have to take into consideration where the router controls are so they can be reached easily.

No. The router should be attached to the table's mounting plate without the plate that came with the router.
