| Registered User New Member | I have inherited an excellent wooden bench built into one entire side of my small workshop - hence there is no side access. The length is 13 feet (4m); width is 2 feet (0.6m); height is 3 feet(0.95m) The top is made of 3 sheets of very good quality plywood, smooth, clean and level, glued and screwed from underneath approx. 3 inches. There is good access underneath. Onto this bench I want to mount a router on a Woodpecker Unilift router lift. I have a Hitachi M12V2 router. I would be very grateful for advise on how to make best use of the bench I have inherited for the router lift. eg lift position, fence, miter tracks and anything else that address my particular situation. | Registered User Forum Geek | Hi, Mcelduf: From your description of the bench, with out side access I would say that it is limited in length. If mounted in the center you would be limited to 6 and a half feet. You would also be limited in mounting a fence, bwcause of fastening it down. I had a similar problem and decided to use a separate bench that would be portable, with locking rollers. hop this helps.. Woodnut65 |

6.5 feet will be more than adequate for all my needs and I only need a basic fence. I've been looking at making my own fence - 6ft long step pivoted at one end at (say) 20mm intervals and continuously adjustable at the other with the router mounted near the stepped side. In theory this will give me fine adjustment capability to meet my needs - hence the 6ft length. However I would need some details and hardware required based on experience of this set up. brilliant site Thanks Last edited by mcelduff; 02-21-2008 at 05:32 AM. | |

It has a lot of different fences posted in it. http://www.routerforums.com/table-mo...91-fences.html It sounds like you might like the swing type fence Bobj3 uses. With this method you wouldn't need a 6' fence.
