Hi woodchip7

That's a neat one,, I think I may give that trick a try this summer ,, maybe with some Colorado Trout and some hickory boards I have out back..kind of a neat hot serving plate thing or I may just pull a board out of the fence now if I could just find some banana leaves to rap it up with..maybe Harry can ship some in from AU.. O I just recalled he cut all his banana trees down.

Cedar Plank Salmon

4 Cedar Planks (untreated 12” z 12” soaked in cold water for 3 hours)

1 lb Salmon Fillet

2 oz Walnut oil

6 Sprigs rosemary, or thyme

2 oz Maple Syrup

2 oz Bourbon

Preheat Grill.

Remove the planks from the water and place on the grill until hot. Brush Board with walnut oil. Have ready 4 sheets of aluminum foil cut into 16 by 16 inch sheets. Remove the planks with tongs and place 1 plank in the center of each piece of foil. Place salmon on board with the herbs on top. Mix maple syrup and bourbon together and drizzle over salmon. Wrap the aluminum around the salmon, return to the grill and cook for approximately 10 minutes or to medium-well doneness.

Summer what's that? Is that the season where there isn't snow on the ground and the temp is above 32 degrees. Well froze up last night so was up till midnight with the propane tourch and new pressure switch. What a mess and boy was it cold. Somewhere around 4-5 below zero.

Hi woodchip7

"Summer what's that?" You can't have the good without the bad, No string as only one end

But like you I get feed up with winter this time of year and I get just a bit uptight because I know it's just around the corner..

Hang in there bud it's coming just as soon Harry is done with it "down under"

Yup... grill salmon on cedar planks .. yum yum ... a biz friend gave us a few pcs and it has become THE choice of grilling salmon in the family. We bought a whole box (at wholesale)... gave some away to family and neighbors .. they all love it.

I did bbq pork loin on them... very good too!

Man that looks good. I can't wait to go to Alaska next summer and bring a bunch of salmon back. I will have to get the grocery store variety to start with, until then.

2-3' long pieces sure would be good for making signs & the bird house idea is great.
