Default How to cut a large chamfer?

I am building a V-drum sander and the opening in the top needs a 45 degree chamfer on the underside of the slot for the drum. The top is 1 1/2" thick so the chamfer will be pretty large. How do I cut this, by hand in several steps or all at once on the table with a large bit? Thanks for any suggestions.
