| Registered User New Member | Just starting to research router and tables. Have not used a router much and would like some input as to what type to puchase. I do own a Bosch 1617EVS, but from reading some of the post it does not seem to be the best for a table. Is it worth the extra cost to purchase a router lift or can you get a router with one built in? Getting ready to retire in the next couple of years and I am setting up a shop. Thanks in advance for any help. Cecil |

| Forum Moderator Supreme Forum King | Welcome to the forums Cecil. I saw at lowes last year that they sell a bosch router table looked really nice and it was not to expensive. Like Router said everyone has their favorites. Know a lot of members here that can help you with that model.

| Senior Moderator Supreme Forum King | I own a 1617 and have it mounted in a Router Workshop table from Oak Park. This combination will let you do most everything possible with a table mounted router. The fixed base is arguably the best model available for table mounting of the many combo kits available. The knobs are removed for extra clearance under the table, the motor switches easily between bases, the 3 position rough adjustment along with the fine adjusting knob makes for quick and accurate set ups. This 20 year old design still sets the standard for combo kits and has won every magazine comparison I have seen. Router lifts are a great solution for people with limited mobility. They do not make set ups more accurate and they actually increase set up time with all the cranking. (set up time is usually the longest part of a project) I feel that most people would be better off spending their money on some high quality bits.
