Default M12V switch

I used my router table to to build 8 adirondack chairs this weekend. I routered quite a bit of wood with the Hitachi. The switch must have filled up with fine saw dust and essentially remains in the on position. Anyone ever have this issue?

I haven't dissasembled yet to clean it. I need to add a switch to my table so I don't need to use the router switch so much.

Hi Deck,

I have a MV12 also, but have never run into that problem. After each job I do with it, I take off the base plate and go at the bottom section with my shop vac. I then go over the whole thing with an airblast from my compressor. If fine sawdust has bound up your switch, this system may just help free it up. Its worth a try.

Hi Deck

Most router are not made to run upside down to long... to many pockets for the saw dust to fall into..

If you're going to clear out the dust, debris yourself then you may want to use a brush and not compressed air. Compressed air can force the debris into areas you don't want. The federal government has done studies that show the use of compressed air to clean machinery reduces the lifetime of the machinery.

Hi!

I believe they studied those effects back around the sixties. I've never searched for that type of information but it may be freely available. It would be interesting to see all the things(myths, etc) the goverment has researched, tested, and concluded. As well as all the receipts for government purchases!
