| Registered User New Member | I think I want to build a router table top because 24 x 32 is a bit small and I can make one sized to my choice. Would 2 layers of 3/4" baltic birch plywood with a laminate surface be flat enough? Given some of the limitations gluing MDF and screwing into MDF to attach to my cabinet, it seems this might be a better solution. Thanks, Tim Whited Virginia Beach, VA Last edited by twhited; 07-25-2008 at 10:43 AM. Reason: typo |

| Registered User Forum King | Yes I personally prefer large table tops with offset plate. Just be careful when gluing the two boards together. Just because you start with two perfectly flat boards it doesn’t mean the end result will be flat. The boards have to be placed on a perfectly flat surface or they will be effected during the dry time. You have to use even pressure on the clamps on center and around. Also if one of the boards has slight dip, this will be doubled or worse when they are dry.

| Registered User New Member | Consider your local kitchen cabinet fabricators - I was able to pick up a large piece of 31mm (2.25") waste or offcut bench top. It had a very nice rolled edge across the front, was laminated top and bottom, absolutely flat and will never flex. All that for $15. Good luck and enjoy the project. Cheers. |
