After pondering many months and reading everything I could find and looking at everyone's table and hearing every argument on the best table set up, I looked at "MY" needs, budget, time and ability.

I have a plan..... this now on order with a ton of modification ideas in mind.

I ordered the Rockler table with wings and accessory kit and the Dewalt planer stand. After it arrives and a few days to juice it all up to how I plan to work and my shop size, I will be back with some pictures of the finished product.

I know each person has their own need and way.... this is mine.

So many projects.... So little time.

Bob, are you planning on mounting the Rockler table onto the Dewalt stand? That would make it difficult for bit changes unless you are going to hinge the table top to swing up. The wide metal strip across the front would be in the way of wrenches.

Good observence and I already saw and planned for that. Two options, the metal strips can be replaced or even eliminated with some modification and as you said, a hinge is definately the other option. I will also need to add 3 or 4 inches height for comfort for my size. I already own one of these tables that my planer sits on and absolutely love the design and quality. I was planning on getting a second one to use for my portable base for my various benchtop tools and could change out as needed. I will most likely devote this one to the router table and use the first for my change out base. I am thinking of adding some drawers and sides to make it a pretty nice set up for my needs. For some reason I felt I could modify into a good set up rather than build from scratch and get up and running a little quicker. My condition limits a lot of heavy lifting and I have to go about my tasks slowly. Also, my shop must be 100% mobile and compact. I think this table/cabinet will meet my required needs and ultimately be as nice as any router set up I have seen. I've got some great ideas on how I will modify it into a truly great router station.

As always Mikes, your input is valued and appreciated. You have helped me in so many ways. BTW.... the workbench reaches completion today, I will email you some pics later.
