| Registered User Forum Fanatic | Tool: Harbor Freight Roller Stand Rating: 1 Review: The roller was out of level by ~1/8-1/4" over its length. The plastic adjustment nut split in two under normal hand pressure, ruining the stand. This is a cheaply constructed, poorly designed item. Don't waste your money on it. rstermer |

I did not save the receipt, or, if I did save it, I put it somewhere "safe" and can't find it (that "safe" place must be getting pretty crowded after all these years), so if they do take it back it will just be out of a desire to maintain goodwill. I'll post again to let the forum know their position on refunds/exchanges without a receipt. rstermer

| Senior Moderator Supreme Forum King | Most stores would not give a refund without a receipt and I can understand that. I think there should be no problem returning an obviously defective item for exchange since it is in "new" condition and failed. Let us know how this turns out.

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | I went by this afternoon and they exchanged without any problems, I paid another $3 and upgraded to a model that looks like the one Lowes sells. Hopefully it will be more durable. rstermer |

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | HF sells two different designs of roller stands, with a couple of variations. The higher priced one, still only ~$13, has a red locking lever, square extension post and chrome roller and and appears to be much sturdier than the lower priced one which utilizes a large plastic jamb nut as a locking mechanism, has a round extension post and a red plastic covered roller. If you are going to buy one from HF, go with the more expensive one. The cheaper stand is a piece of junk. So far, the higher priced one appears to be ok. rstermer Last edited by rstermer; 05-12-2008 at 01:06 PM. |

| Registered User Dedicated Member | I just came across this post so this is a little late. But could you post a link to the roller stand? They have sold a few different models over the years. I've had a couple of the single folding type of roller stands similar to this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95621 The difference with mine is that instead of having a lever to tighten the adjustable height it has a standard black plastic knob. I've used them both a lot over the past 4 or 5 years and they've functioned perfectly. The roller brackets have a little bit of pivot ability built into them so they sort of self-level. The knob snugs down tight. The rollers roll easily. The only downside I could come up with is that they can tip over if you push too hard in the wrong direction. But they are virtually identical to models I've seen sold by Rockler and other companies, (With respects to how and where the stand folds) so you can't just blame that only on Harbor Freight. In fact, the only stands that I've seen that are more stable don't fold up as compactly as these do. You may well be referring to a different stand so maybe a link would be helpful. If I were to buy the new version with the lever instead of the knob and the lever broke I'd just replace the lever with a $3.00 black plastic knob. It's a bargain when compared to what the competition is selling the same stands for. Bruce |

| Registered User New Member | I have six of the HF roller stands and mine are all okay, no problems. FWIW, I returned a 6 month old chipper/shredder with a burned out motor to Harbor Freight without a receipt and they replaced it with a new one, no questions asked. On the other hand, if you order from HF on the web, be prepared to wait and wait and wait, if they are not the world's slowest shipper, they are in the top two or three. |

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95621 This is the one to avoid (bad design in my opinion): http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=46086 In the catalog the one that failed on me sells for more than the one I think is better, but in the retail store it is just the opposite, the better one is more expensive. However, the last time I was in the store I saw the better one is on sale for approx. $9, which is a great deal. Hope this helps. rstermer
