Hi all, I have just got a morticer but most times when I plunge down the chips jam the bit. I have read somewhere that there is an optimum clearance between the chisel and bit but what ever I tried It still seemed to jam alot. Any help many thanks | ||

Hi chickenslippers Here's just one more small tip,, let the drill do it's work, don't force it too much...also check the bit and the chisel to make sure the bit is inside the chisel,,,if the drill bit is too far out, the chips will be big and jam inside the chisel...they have a cone on the bit so to speak make sure the cone is in the chisel with about 1/32" or less...use a business card as a gage, fold it over once, and then cut it into a narrow strip.. =======
