I've got a router/table, table saw, planer, jointer and various portable power tools. I'm sure at some point I'll add more pieces to my inventory, but for now, that's all.
I'm going to be setting up shop in my basement. Any ideas on what I should start looking for in terms of dust collection? Is 650 cfm enough, or should I look more towards 1,100 cfm? I'd love a cyclone collector, but I think it's a little out of my price range (which I'm not entirely sure what my price range is right now ). I plan on setting up the tubing, and not just rolling the dust collector from piece to piece. Most likely, I will have the collector on the outside of my shop wall (still in the basement, just not in my shop).

Any help would be appreciated. I don't know anything about this subject, other than looking at some collectors and a few websites. I don't know what I would require, or what the best setup would be.

Dust collection volume is like clamps - you can't have too many. Go for as much cfm as you can afford. If you are going to run 4" PVC tubing don't plan on a cyclone inproving the suction later. Do use the large radius bends. Cyclones like large ducts - 6" and volume.
Oh, and by all means get the best filter you can, .5, 1, 3 or 5 microns in bags NOT 20 or 30 microns.
