Default Tension On old 1947 Delta bandsaw
Report Post Report This Post!

Hello all, how do you tell what the tension should be on the blade of the band saw? I have a very old one that still works really well and I got a new "tire" for it and am adjusting the tension and I realized I have never know how to set the tension. It is purely by feel so...Any help is appreciated!!

What band did you buy? Are there tensioning instructions on the package?
I use the flutter method to set my bands. Tension the band and loosen it slowly. When it flutters, increase the tension very slowly till it stops. Add 1/4 to 1 full turn.
