Default Reducing thickness of butcher block through hole.

How can I best reduce the thickness of butcher block by working through a 1 inch diameter hole from the top? I'm mounting faucets and the butcher block counter is too thick. Can't get to hole from bottom.

Hi Tom welcome to the forum. You could counter sink from underneath using a bigger bit to get the nuts onto the faucets or some how extend the mountings of the faucet.

I agree with Glenmore. Either a Forstner drill bit or a spiral router bit using a jig and a Guide Bushing. I'll bet Bob even has a jig for just that- he has a jig for everything (just kidding). -Derek

Since I can't work on the underside of the butcher block but can load a bit from below, I think reikimaster's suggestion to use an "undercut" bit is a good solution. I'll give it a try.
Thanks for all the help!
