I have a mini Clear Vue and a full sized one. I feel they work better than claimed. I butchered a Ridgid shop vac to use the mini. Wish I was photo capable to show you. I ended up with two five gal. plastic buckets, three inch pvc elbows, four inch dia. length of hose, a new motor shroud of six inch dia. pvc.,etc. It all sets in the modified Ridgid wheeled base. The new hepa filter has yet to get dirty and I've used it a lot.
As far as a shop full of piping--I use one half of a 28'x24' garage. It has 8' of six inch dia. pvc pipe and two four inch dia. hose drops that are twelve' long. I use one machine at a time. Doing my own woodworking saves me money,but I put my health and my lungs first in line. And have a great dust free time. Good Luck

I've been looking at the 2hp DC systems that you can find all over e-bay for about $182.. Harbor Freight has this one.. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=45378

Does anyone have experience with these? I can build up some 4" lines and drops to handle my RT, BS, TS, sander, etc. in my garage..
I know the old addage, "You get what you pay for", and am wondering if I should really consider one..

I Have one (HF) that I got about 2 years ago or so and it's great I have not put in any piping in because I'm always moving things around in the shop but you can easy.
BUT from time to time you can get one from HF for 149.00 and with some luck for 129.oo

Hi Mike,
The price, 2 HP, 115V, 14 amp and the 1600 CFM are good. The only thing I might question about it is it only filters to 30 microns. The really dangerous stuff is from 5 to 10 microns. Or so I read somewhere. The only problem is when you get into the 5 micron or lower range it can get rather costly. That being said, at 1600 CFM, it probably would do good at sucking up plenty of chips.

You can get a filter to get the vac system to 1 micron

It's not to high in price for the filter and it fits the HF also.

Mike, I own one of these HF units and it works great. I got mine from a friend who took it in trade on a deal for $40. It was used but that didn't bother me a bit for the price.

I'm working in a one car garage and intend to try three options:
(1) Wheel the tool outside and make dust out there (if warm enough)
(2) Section off a small end of the garage with plastic sheeting to contain the dust.
(3) Make a small box and mount a small attic fan I have on one end and a hepa filter on the other end. This could be put on a table temporarily.

I haven't tried any of these yet. Film at 11.

You will still want to catch as much of the sawdust as possible with a shop vac or dust collector. Sears has HEPA filters available for some of their vac's.
