| Forum Moderator Supreme Forum King | Hey guys.... I saw this thread on another forum and thought it might be a fun topic here. For those of you not familiar with the term, it's basically what you want to accomplish in woodworking before you "kick the bucket". Mine would be to build a real woodworker's bench like this one.

| Registered User Forum King | Hi Bob Now you do have an interesting topic. I would like to think I was going to live forever,,,, but as I mentioned to Julie, my birthday finds me each year. ![]() I would suggest my goal would be to learn and document as much as I can for my children and their children. We are a breed that is slowly being phased out by technolagy and mass production. My Great Grandfather as well as my Grandfather were cabinet makers but their knowledge died with them. I would like to think the woodworking bug will infect one of the future generations in our family. ![]() A great subject. Thanks John

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | My bucket list included making a tool chest. Now that I finished it, I have to come up with something else. Getting the Wifes' car out of the garage is not going to make it to the list.

Mine are portable but not stable. Buy a wood lathe and learn how to turn. A shop that I don’t have to walk sideways in would be nice. Teach woodworking to youngsters. Gosh, this is really food for thought.

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi Bob I made my work bench like this one along time ago,, it's about 300 lb. one without wheels and I knew at the time I should have put wheels on it..Just lazzy at the time I guess......I did make two wooden vises for it not the long type that it shows in the picture but just great ways to clamp wood..on the end or the side of the work bench.. It's been one of the best items in my shop for a long time and if I can clean it off some day I hope I can use it again... ![]() It's worth the time and the money to make a good work bench, the one I have is about 8ft long and about 34" wide with a spot for wood planes to sit in a tray on one side of the top....with dog holes in the top....I made it out of 4 x 6 yellow pine stock and walnut for the vises, a bit of 1 1/4" Acme rod for the vises...If I recall it took me a week to make it... ![]() You can see a snapshot of it in my Gallery or to say part of it with all the junk on it.. One day down the road the kids or grandkids will enjoy it I'm sure.... ==========
