Default Bad Porter-Cable stapler

Second time in past 18-months I have had a BAD Porter-Cable item right out of the box! Whats going on? Crown stapler NS 100A is the item. I called the service center and the guy all but yawned in my face so you can see how much help he is. And of course, in keeping with todays business world, I cannot find an address to email a comment or complaint right to the Company.
I've been a P-C fan for a long time but this may be the last product from them for me. Be forewarned you guys....I think they are having problems. My personal items: sander with bad switch, bad router motor, bad crown stapler.

Birch, It pays to spend the time reading all the posts on the forums, or at least the important ones that are made into sticky threads at the top of each section. PC has had many problems since before the take over by B&D, and there has been improvement in quality of late. I'm not sure where you were looking for the email address but entering: porter cable in a Google search box brings up www.portercable.com which is their website. I would return the stapler and purchase one from Harbor freight, unless of course you object to paying 80% less money for a better quality product.

Thanks Mike. Good point about doing my research on prior threads, but you see I guess that is part of my point:there was a time when I didn't have to worry about P-C stuff! I wanted to find a snail mail address because most of these big Corps. pay no attention to emails and someone might actually READ a letter.
Of course the day when the customer was in charge is long gone; now we are just a prey species for the business sharks, who treat us like dirt and then laugh in our faces.
I think I'm done with PC stuff, sorry to say.

In all fairness to PC they make many fine products. I own a Tiger Saw and I prefer it over any other bayonet style recipricating saw I have used. I own a 690 router, a 7518, the 9444 detail sander, a finish sander, finish nailer, pin nailer and all have been trouble free and performed to expectations. When these products were made in America there was a reason to pay a bit more for the name. Since almost all power tools are now made in S.E. Asia the reason is gone. There are 3 identical router tables made in the same factory in China. The only difference is the color and name on the unit. If the table is blue/green and says Bosch it will cost you $50 more than if it is black and says Craftsman, and for less than half the price of the Craftsman it will be royal blue and say Chicago Electric and have a very poor quality router in it.
It pays to check out as many options as you can before buying any new tools.

Sounds like you got more then your share of lemons Birch. I do have that particular stapler and that and my guns and compressor have all been trouble free. I also have one of those litte 5 1/2 inch trim circular saws like Norm uses and it has been trouble free. Always stinks to get a faulty tool .... hopefully PC will continue to improve. If not, with the modern age and computers and message boards etc. these kind of problems spread like wildfire to those who use them.

Birch,

I have many PC items in my shop and have all been trouble free. In the way of air tools, I have their pancake compressor, finish nailer, brad nailer and the staple gun. All have worked well over the 3 years or so that I have owned them. Not defending the defects that you have encountered by any means, but simply stating that you can get defects in any brand. The odds are there just lurking in the dark.

Hope you can get it resolved and let the company know of your problems.

Yeah, you guys are right of course. But I guess its my continued reaction to the way EVERYTHING is done today. And I HAVE had THREE faulty items in two years so I do have a right to be at LEAST peeved....maybe even annoyed.
I'll go back to my cave now where you won't hear the growling.

Birch, please keep growling. You have provided important information to the forum members. We all want and need to know about defects in any products. We also need to know how the company handles any problems that should arise. Anybody can make a mistake, I know I can. If a company makes it right then they are ok by me. If they fail to provide reasonable quality and service I am happy to take them to task on behalf of our over 10,000 members. The more people interact by posting problem issues and the outcome, the better off we all are. Keep up the good work.
