I recently got a small convection oven (weighs about 25 lbs.) and am building a shelf for the oven with a drawer underneath to mount on the wall. The shelf is 22" wide by 17" deep. My question is what is the best way to mount the shelf? I was thinking maybe a French Cleat but I'm not sure it would handle the weight. Any suggestions?

Hi George, others will have some opinions as well but I would agree, I think that is a little heavy for a french cleat but maybe not. Bob has a little fancier french cleat that he has posted here that would work. Since you will be 22 inch long here, will it span two different studs in the walls? If so I think that I would use a nailer and lag screw it thru the wall into the studs in a couple spots. Just an idea.
