| Registered User Forum Geek | Good day I would like to share with you my way to make cross-cut sled. It’s a little bit different than the “traditional” way, but it’s easier, accurate and much faster. The accuracy of the sled depends on the alignment of the blade to the miter slots, so first check and re-check your blade alignment. On the pics, I used framing squar for good contrast, in fact I used big accurate triangle that you can see in the "Triangle copy and past" post Important note: When you cut your runners, cut them to 1/64~1/32 LESS then your miter slot width. Just before gluing the sled to the runners (the pic with the “Supper glue” – sorry for the spelling), push some spacers (cardboard) between the runner and the miter slot to push the runners snugly toward the “blade side” of the miter slot. The spacers should be a little bit lower than the runner, just not to touch the sled. When you shim the so-called “vertical board” to be at 90° to the miter slots, re-check it a few times before proceeding. After you shim the “Vertical board”, keep it (shimmed) in case you want to make more sleds in minutes. Finally, I recommend the “5 cut test”, I did it and got a mistake of 0.008” (0.2 mm) for a length of 98” (2.5 m) and left it like that. | Forum Moderator Supreme Forum King | Niki, Where were you a few weeks ago when I was struggling building a CC sled? Wow... you way is far easier than the one I used. I'm hanging on to this thread for when I need to build my next one. Thanks for another great post.

| Registered User Forum Geek | Thank you so much for your kind words Joe Long time ago, we had in Israel 3 kinds of airplanes, Americans, British and French. At that time, the following saying was born: The Americans are saying; Let's make everything simple... But the British are saying; Why to make it simple if you can make it complicated my dear, ho ho... And the French are saying; Why to make it complicated if you can make it impossible, merd alor... As you noticed, my table saw is not a "normal" one, I don't have Miter slots except 3/8" wide one on the left and I don't have the Zero clearance plate. That's the reason that I did not show the actual procedure but I made mine using the same method of shimming the vertical board. I would like to add a few pics to clarify it more Regards niki |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Well Niki, you appear to be inventing new ways of doing things that most of us have been been doing the "English" way for many years. Today I used my Nikilift to rout all the dowel holes for a small coffee table. I don't want you're head to swell too much but, in all the very many years that I have been dowelling, I have NEVER EVER produced dowel holes so fast, so accurate, so cleanly and with virtually no marking out as I did today using my Nikilift. You really have created a precedent, we shall all now expect regular projects!

| Registered User Forum Geek | Thank you so much Harry You cannot imagine how happy I am that the method is working for you (and not you, working for the method). First time that I tested the method, I made a few small boxes for my wife to be used for making "Tofu", After I finished doweling and all the boxes sides fit like a glove, I was happy like a kid with a new toy and since then, to dowel a carcass is the most easy and enjoyable part of the project. Most of the methods that I use are the result of being an amateur and all the "Kuntz" (German for Trick) is, not to spend $200 for a "Dowelmax" or alike (for less you can buy M12V and dedicate it for doweling and jointing) and yes, I like it to be simple, accurate and as you said "Virtually no marking". But...even not one picture??? Well, show as when you'll finishThanks again, you made my day......now, lets make some method to cut frame members at 45° also simple(nik) and take out all the fine tuning...the next post... Best Regards niki |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | I will post a few pictures after glue-up in a few days, I have several things on the go at the moment.I can't wait to see how you cut 45deg. frames, I use several methods but don't consider any of them to be easy or perfect. Cheers 'till tomorrow.
