| Forum Moderator Supreme Forum King | I thought it might be a fun thread to see what everyone is working on right now. It can be a WW project, tool or shop project or just any project around the house. At this moment I am in the middle of revamping my routers and table with new ideas I have gained here lately. So, what is your current project right now?

| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Ummmmm... is this post directed at me Mr. Noles..... I mean are you trying to tell me to get to work on that Kitchen in a most underhanded way? Sneaky son of a gun you. No woodworking project right now... just finished the new router table and push block and several other push blocks. Got a full court press now to work on the kitchen. In the meantime, I will continue to add to the wood pile and maybe a fixture or two. One thing I do want to make is a 1/8 version of the box joint jig like the O.P version for real small fingers in hardwood for boxes and for wooden hinges like Bob J discussed in another thread. There are you happy now... sitting there feeling quite smug with yourself! ![]() Corey

| Registered User Forum Geek | As mentioned in other threads -- working on a rather interesting chest - 1' deep x 2' wide x 5' high- three 8" drawers in the bottom - then two 6" drawers - then a cabinet witha 'barrister' style door - then an open shelf. HEY - a friend sketched it out specifically and asked if I could build it -- and I never could say NO to a pair of brown eyes and 'that look' |

| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Couple neat projects there Cowboy! Norm A built a Barrister style book case on NYWS that aired on the DIY network the other night. Pretty cool! Be sure and post some pics when you are done! What kind of joinery you using on that chest? Corey

| Registered User Forum Geek | actually -- thats all ONE project -- the cabinet with the barrister door is above the drawers and below the open shelf. It's what they SAID they wanted -- just hope the real thing matches what they have in their head. I tend to give long answers to short questions -- but since you asked ----- As for joinery -- for the frames between the drawers - I tongue and grooved the ends Those frames as well as the top and the two solid shelves are joined to the sides with sliding dovetails. Probably overkill -- but I enjoyed the practice. Since there are going to be 5 drawers -- I broke down and bought my first dovetail jig. Looking forward to using it. Love NYWS -- missed that episode. I found plans for a barrister bookcase online from Popular Woodworking. They used a simple stop dado for the slide so I'm trying that. As for pics-- I had posted a thread asking for input on using the sliding dovetails. There are pics there of my VERY simple jigs and the carcass as it stands now - Will add more next weekend when I start on the drawers. SIDE NOTE TO MODERATOR(S) If there is a more approrpriate forum for work-in-progress threads and pics like those -- please feel free to move it and/or let me know.
