Default TS sled for all seasons

Good day

Today, I was working on the router table fence, the "Fence/Bit" precision distance system and the "Fence stops" precision positioning system.

I took some 3 Tons of pics but I have to select, "Delete", "Sharpen", "Add Text" etc and it will take some time to post.

In between, I needed a sled to cut small (and not so small) pieces so I made one in 15~20 minutes (I had all the materials ready) from the "Floor Panels" left-over that I used for the router table.

I called it "All seasons sled" because temp and humidity changes are not effecting the sled runners that usually are expanding and contracting with humidity changes.

The sled is always tight, without any "Side play" and can be "re-adjusted" in seconds.

Because of the construction method, everything is very square to the blade (I'm using the "Dynamic", not the "Static position of the blade) so no need of "Two cut test" or "Five cut test"...it's dead 90°...as long as the blade is parallel to the miter slot and your triangle is accurate...

And last, it's sliding, actually half rolling, and is very, very easy to push-pull.

Many variations can be made on this sled and I leave it to your imagination (I have a few ideas).

I have some 56 pics of "step-by-step" so if somebody needs to see or know about some detail, I can post a pic.

Regards
niki

Cool

Hi Niki,

Really COOL, simple, and easy!

Question:
With the runner/slider screwed into the top, which also keeps it square, how can fine adjustments be done in seconds.

The sled is always tight, without any "Side play" and can be "re-adjusted" in seconds.

What is being 'adjusted'? The way it Rolls or the angle to the blade?

Thank you.

Thank you

Joe
What I did not tell is that the runner is narrower than the miter slot by 1 mm (3/64") so it will never bind or get stuck.

The square is between the runner and the "sled fence" and because the runner is parallel to the blade and tight to the miter slot, it will remain square all the time.

The rollers are just pulling the runner tight to the miter slot (they don't have any role in the sled squareness) and as long as the runner is tight to the miter slot, the sled remains square.

What I meant by "Can be re-adjusted in seconds" is (sorry for my poor words selection)...if the runner becomes loose (side play) I can re-adjust it tight within seconds by tightening the bolts.

I have it all in a 56 pictures of "Step-by-step" WIP and if you want to see some detail I can post a few pics.

What a great idea. You need to go into the tool and accessory design business! The rollers give me an idea for an "improved" cross-cut sled!
I'm sure you guys all know of the factory made "runners" you can buy to build sleds etc. They are available in a couple lengths, cost about $18-$20, are totally adjustable and work just GREAT! I have built two jigs with them and they are worth the money to me. I used to build with wooden strips etc. but finally gave up one bottle of Beefeaters to get two "runners" from Rockler.
Thanks Simple.
