Default Rust on Jointer

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has some solutions for minor rust on the bed of a jointer. Was thinking of using steel wool and then either WD-40 or a product called Top Coat.

Just looking for ideas.

Allison,

You are on the right track. I have and use both from time to time and they both work well for the purpose.

Steelwool in and lightly wipe down when finished.

Hi Allison

Go into the kitchen and get the scotch brite pad and get the 3 & 1 oil can out and use it on the jointer then put a good coat of auto polish on it...

Don't use WD40 it can flame up with just a spark....

plus read the links below pls.

I've had good luck with the Boeshield kit, and I have a couple of other dry film lubricants that help a little.

I usually take some 0000 steel wool with some turtlwax chrome cleaner/rust remover.

Then I hit it with a few coats of paste wax......good as new.
